The
versatile Jumbo Orchestra Model seemed the obvious model to add a cutaway to,
being big enough to be relatively unaffected by it but not so large that it
is at all awkward to hold, even standing with a strap. I also offer the option
of a shallower body for pure stage use.
When someone is interested in having a cutaway guitar they always ask, 'What does it do to the sound?'. In general I would say that a slightly more concentrated and a little less open sound is produced; the emphasis is moved a little towards the mids rather than the bass and treble. I make some modifications to the strutting to try and minimise this effect but it can be seen as a benefit, with the extra control making amplification easier and lighter strings more defined in tone.

Right; My new 'Scoop' cutaway available on all models now!
My new 'Scoop' cutaway is designed to overcome the tonal influence of more
traditional designs
by impacting the way a guitar resonates far less. More details soon!
See JOM page for tonal descriptions of different wood combinations for this version.
